Our chief "bean counter's" weekend gig. |
The FBS team not only know farming, we love it! During the harvest weekends Mike Boggs, our resident "bean counter," exchanges his accountant's green eye shade for a tattered ball cap to ferry grain out of his neighbor's fields. Mike's virtual controller clients truly benefit from a Director of Professional Services who exemplifies a unique grounding in farming as well as financials.

Q&A of the Month: Showing Future Rent Payments
 |
Sarah Dixon, FBS Sales and Support Coordinator |
Q. How do I record cash rent that's due at the end of the year into current-dated reports so I can calculate my crop's margin
A. The easiest way to accomplish this is to record the rent as an Accounts Payable through the A/P Module dated within the growing season.
To include this rent expense in financial reports such as the Income Statement select Date Cash Exchanged option 1-Use entries in time period with your date range including the date of the A/P.
If you choose Date Cash Exchanged options 2 or 3-AP & AR on date paid, the rent will not show as an expense until the date the A/P is paid.
Note that Cost Analysis Reports (Crop, Feeding and Consolidated Cost Analysis) will always recognize the Accounts Payable and Receivable on the date they are booked, not the date paid (identical timing to Date Cash Exchanged option 1.
